We are here to help you make your visit to our website as easy and informative as possible. This site has been designed to be user-friendly and as easy to read as possible.

TEXT (FONT) SIZE

This site has the facility to alter the size of the text by selecting the size required using the Font Size Tool, this is located below the menu section on each page. To change the text size click on the relative 'A' character, located to the right of the 'Font Size:' text.

SITEMAP

As the sitemap is located under the About Kilmarnock College pull-down menu and is also displayed at the top of each page, the site can also be navigated with the use of the keyboard alone with no mouse required (see the access keys section)

BROWSEALOUD (SPEECH ENABLED SITE)

Browsealoud is a software solution that allows visitors the option of having website content read to them. As the website visitor moves the cursor over text, it is spoken aloud. Browsealoud is free to download and you have control over the voice, word pronunciations and speech highlighting.

This provides an additional way of accessing content for people who have problems reading. This includes those with dyslexia or learning difficulties, those for whom English is not their first language, or anyone with a mild visual impairment.

ACCESS KEYS

Keyboard shortcuts (accesskeys) are intended to help users who have difficulty in using pointing devices such as a mouse. The following information details each of the keyboard shortcut commands available to you.

Depending upon your browser type use one of the following:
if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 then press and hold the "alt" key and specific number key at same time;
if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or above press and hold the "alt" key and the number key then release both keys and press the enter key;
on Macintosh, press Control + an access key;
this accessibility initiative is supported by Netscape 6.

DOCUMENTS AND FILES

Wherever possible, we endeavour to produce all of our downloads in PDF format. The PDF format protects data integrity and is an accepted standard across the private and public sectors. PDF files can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free software tool available from Adobe.
