Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) Units include: Human Body, Mental Health,Psychology, Sociology, Values and Principals, Communication, Numeracy and IT, HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.
SWAP promotes access to University for adult returners. SWAP course has been developed specifically for people with few or no qualifications to help them gain access to University. SWAP works in partnership with Kilmarnock College and the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) to create opportunities for mature students. Learners must be adult returners who are not fulfilling the entry requirements or Nurse Training at University. Learners are jointly interviewed prior to the start of the course with Kilmarnock College and UWS staff.

Progression
General Nursing Degree course at the University of the West of Scotland. Upon successful completion of the course, along with a satisfactory reference from the College, students have the opportunity to apply for one of the guaranteed places on the Degree course. Other Degree options could be in adult/mental health nursing.
