This qualification contains a set of mandatory units, as well as a choice of 47 job specific units, including options such as:
• Installing and Commissioning of Mechanical Equipment
• Installation of Instrumentation and Control Equipment
• Installing Process Control Equipment
• Installing Compressed Air Equipment.
The candidate and employer will discuss and agree with the assessor the units which reflect the candidate's job role. The candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in the job. At Level 3 the candidate will be expected to be technically advanced and produce sufficient evidence to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills at this level. The candidate will receive help and support on how to develop this from the assessor during regular visits outlined in the candidate's training plan.
Entry Requirements
In order to achieve this qualification, the candidate must be employed in a suitable position in either an electrical or mechanical installation and commissioning team, and have their employer's support towards completing their qualification. At Level 3 the candidate will work with minimum supervision, demonstrate good practical skills and knowledge of the job, ensuring all work carried out is within the safe working practices of the workplace, and show ability in maintaining set installation and commissioning standards.
Benefits
This qualification can help to improve career development/promotion within the candidate's existing workplace. At Level 3 the candidate has the option to progress to a supervisory role within an installation team in their company. Through completion of an SVQ Level 3 or MA candidates can progress through an academic route of HNC, HND to Degree Level qualification.
