Working in a care setting, the candidate would be expected to already have some experience and knowledge in: promoting, monitoring and maintaining health, safety and security, promoting choice, well-being and the protection of individuals. The candidate is able to work with minimum supervision and have a degree of responsibility and in the decision making process and be pro-active in their own personal development.
In order to achieve this qualification, the candidate will be assessed in their workplace by a qualified and competent assessor. The assessor will support the candidate to generate a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates their knowledge and practical skills. A range of methods will be used such as observations, written reflective account and questions. This qualification comprises of four mandatory and four optional units (to reflect the candidate's role in the work place).
Entry Requirements
The candidate will be employed within an adult care environment, with a degree of autonomy and responsibility. The candidate should have a reasonable knowledge of all aspects of care including legislation and record keeping.
Benefits
On completion the candidate will be awarded the Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 Certificate in Care. At level 3 the candidate can register with SSSC as a Practitioner.
