Kilmarnock College recently held their annual John Mather Awards Ceremony honouring exceptional past and present students of the College.
The awards are sponsored by the John Mather Trust, which was set up by the late Clydeport Chairman John Mather, and helps young people and students in the West of Scotland progress in their chosen careers by assisting them with the expense of moving forward into the workplace.
Outstanding students from the areas of Beauty, Catering, Construction, Engineering, Hairdressing, Motor Vehicle Engineering and Painting and Decorating, were presented with their awards by Mr Bill MacKay from the Trust, at a ceremony held in the College. The awards consisted of a cheque and a toolkit to assist them in their future careers.
For a number of years Kilmarnock College students have benefitted from the John Mather Trust and this year, due to the continued success of the initiative, the Trust has generously increased the amount of money given to the College.
Kilmarnock College Principal and Chief Executive, Heather Dunk, said: "The John Mather Trust is a wonderful and very proactive initiative giving our students the best possible start in their careers. On behalf of our students and the College, I would like to thank Bill and the John Mather Trust for all of their support over the years, without which much of our former students' successes would not have been possible."
