Student lands unique opportunity at the MOBO awards

Kilmarnock College student, Stephanie Murray, had a dream realised last week when she landed the job of doing make-up for the stars at last week's MOBO Awards.

Stephanie who is currently studying the National Certificate in Beauty at Kilmarnock College, was whisked away to a secret location in Glasgow where she helped with hair and make-up for the MOBO stars including JLS, Lemar and the up-and-coming singer Effie.

Stephanie (17) from Kilmarnock, who hopes to become a renowned make-up artist, described the night as 'the most amazing experience of my life.'

Stephanie's lecturer from Kilmarnock College, Jackie McDonagh also joined her at the MOBO's.  Jackie said; "When Stephanie first arrived at the College she had been through a lot of personal issues and was still very young.  Since then she has really blossomed, she has worked hard, learning great make-up skills.  This was a fantastic opportunity for her."

Both Stephanie and Jackie had a great night, although Stephanie declined an invitation to the MOBO after party stating: "I can't, I have college in the morning!"

Kilmarnock College offers a range of beauty qualifications from National Certificates to Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma programmes. The College's salons are also open to the public for beauty treatments.  Phone the salon on 01563 495048 for more information or log on to the courses section.
