University Partnership sees Kilmarnock College Launch First Degree Programme

A partnership between Kilmarnock College and University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has seen the launch of the first degree programme available for study at the College, with 10 students eagerly beginning the new Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) degree.

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) degree enables holders of an HND in Accounting to advance their qualification to degree level at the College. The course, which is delivered by the College on behalf of UWS on a part-time basis, covers subjects including Finance Management, Business Taxation, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Auditing. On successful completion of the 18 month course, students can progress to honours level at University of the West of Scotland.

Speaking of the new degree, Kilmarnock College Principal Heather Dunk said: "We are delighted to be running our first degree programme and are pleased that we now have a progression route in place for our HND Accountancy students. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff from Kilmarnock College and the University of the West of Scotland, students were able to start the course this month. Looking ahead, we hope to build similar affiliations, providing our students with the opportunity to continue their studies to degree level from their local college."
