Students Take Part in Fundraising Pyjama Walk

On Tuesday 24 November, students studying the Steps to Care course at Kilmarnock College  enjoyed a sponsored Pyjama Walk with the hope of raising £500.00 for Yorkhill Hospital.

The three hour morning walk took the 14 students through Kilmarnock to the College Campus at Holehouse Road. Upon their return, students released over 20 balloons into the crisp winter air,  filled with ‘wishes’ in remembrance of children who have been affected by illness.

The walk was organised by the students as part of their Personal and Social Development Unit. Other areas covered on the Steps to Care course at Kilmarnock College include Psychology and Sociology and Health Awareness.

Kilmarnock College Principal, Heather Dunk, said: “I am extremely proud of these 14 students and on behalf of the College, well done for all of your efforts. These types of activities are a great way for our students to interact with the community and it is wonderful to see our students ‘giving back’. Thank you to everyone for your kind donations.”

Students will present the cheque to Yorkhill Hospital later this month and plan to run other fundraising activities next year.
