Unsigned bands from across Ayrshire will be pitted against each other next week at a Battle of the Bands organised by students to raise money for charity.
The event, which will be held at West of the Moon nightclub in Ayr, is the brainchild of HNC Travel and Tourism students Gemma Bell (19), Sarah Murray (18), and John Lochhead (41) who decided to run the Battle as part of their Event Management unit.
Five bands will be judged by the audience throughout the evening and the stakes are high for the winning group. The winning band will receive prizes donated by local music shops.
Gemma Bell, from Troon, commented: “We wanted to host something that people would really enjoy but at the same time, be for a good cause. The British Heart Foundation is a fantastic charity and we hope to raise a lot of money for them.
“We are all looking forward to next Wednesday and I would like to thank West of the Moon for kindly hosting the event, and local music shops for their fantastic prize donations.”
Five bands have already signed up to compete in the event and 60 tickets have been sold. Tickets, priced at £4, can be purchased in advanced from Kilmarnock College or at West of the Moon, with all proceeds going towards the British Heart Foundation.
