Leadership Award for Kilmarnock College Principal

The Principal of Kilmarnock College, Heather Dunk, has been presented with a special award by the Association of Scottish Businesswomen (ASB) in recognition of her outstanding work.

Principal awardHeather was honoured at the ASB's annual awards ceremony, held at Elphinstone Hall in Aberdeen on Friday 27 August, which was attended by over 140 of Scotland's leading business women.

The Principal was presented with a specially created award for ‘Outstanding Leadership Skills', as an acknowledgement of her success in turning around Kilmarnock College's performance since her appointment in 2008.

The judges commended her drive, initiative and energy, saying: "During the course of the judging we were impressed with the tremendous positive impact Heather had on her organisation.

"When she took up her role she knew she had a huge mountain to conquer. Her vision was clear and she aimed for that vision from day one.

"Her enthusiasm for positive change is infectious and, through her vision, she has turned around her organisation with her exceptional leadership skills."

Heather Dunk said: "I am surprised and delighted to have been given this award. It is wonderful to be recognised by my peers from across Scotland, but - more than that - for Kilmarnock College itself to be recognised for the fantastic transformation it has undergone.

"I could not do the job I do without the hard work of the entire team at the College, and the support of our students, board members, partners and the wider community in Kilmarnock and beyond. I am very proud of what we have achieved and I look forward to building on the strong foundations now in place.

"I would like to thank the ASB and the judges for this recognition and the Ayrshire Association of Business Women for their support."
