Carpenters of the future are benefiting after joinery manufacturer, Andersons (Kilmarnock) Ltd., kindly donated kitchen worktops, doors and units to Kilmarnock College's carpentry and joinery students.

The products worth around £5,000.00 will help students complete the new fitted interiors framework as part of the NQ Carpentry and Joinery course.
The 12 week course, which has been designed by the College as part of the students' coursework, will provide hands-on experience involving practical use of the equipment used in the industry.
Kilmarnock College's new fitted interiors coursework has been developed due to demand from employers for practical training in assembling kitchens. The new programme has been made possible by the relationship the College has formed with Andersons (Kilmarnock) Ltd, and the kind donation they made.
The local timber merchant and joinery manufacturer has expanded and diversified its operation and is now known as a leading supplier, importer and manufacturer of kitchens, doors, floors, timber and timber products.
Tam Branney, General Manager at Andersons (Kilmarnock) Ltd, said: "Andersons has always been progressive and innovative in harnessing what's current and providing opportunity for those who have a similar mind-set.
"We are delighted to have supported Kilmarnock College's carpentry and joinery students as it helps develop the skills required in the industry. Andersons has been eastablished in Kilmarnock for the past ten years and we have built really strong relationships in such testing trading conditions.
"This is a unique opportunity for the students and we are happy to support the local community in any way possible."
Craig Barrie, Joinery Lecturer at Kilmarnock College, said: "We strive to be at the forefront of the carpentry and joinery industry by creating coursework that is both technologically advanced and well-equipped, and so generous donations like the kitchen equipment help us sustain our high standards.
"Kilmarnock College is currently the only college in Scotland offering this type of coursework. I hope the relationship between our two organisations continues to flourish in the future."
