The Learner Services Team will be your first point of contact at the College and are on hand to help with guidance, information and advice. If you need help making that first step, the Learner Services Advisers can talk to you about your interests and career ideas and help you make a plan to achieve your goal. They can also give you advice about other things that might be worrying you about coming to college, whether you are coming straight from school or after some time away from education.
If you decide to come to college, Learner Services are here to support you while you are at College. During your Induction week you will be introduced to your Learner Services Adviser who will be responsible for your curriculum area. Your Learner Services Adviser is here to help you to make good choices and support you while you are studying at Kilmarnock College. They can help you:
• while you are thinking about your options
• throughout your course
• before you leave us to go on to higher education or employment.
Learner Services can also put you in touch with other parts of the College service for advice on funding, additional support and counselling. They also have links with external agencies that can benefit you. The Learner Services Advisers also deliver a range of workshops including study skills, learning styles, money matters, CV writing, report writing, job seeking and more.
When you are approaching the end of your studies and are applying for university, Learner Services can support you through your UCAS application. If you are considering employment, they can help you with your CV and interview preparation.
You can book an appointment to see a Learner Services Adviser or, if you prefer, you can drop-in and see them at the Learner Services Desk in the Main Campus.
